The Pittsburgh New Works Festival seeking One Acts
The Pittsburgh New Works Festival is now accepting one-act plays that have never before been produced. Twelve one-act plays will be selected to be performed as mainstage productions for the festival’s 22nd season, which begins in September. An additional six will be selected for staged readings, to be performed the last two Sundays of August. The plays are produced by 18 theatre companies from all over the Pittsburgh region.

This open competition invites submissions of new, one act unpublished plays from both adult and youth writers. All entries will be read and a shortlist drawn up. Shortlisted scripts will be developed for performance with Sky Blue Theatre Company, offering the writer an opportunity to be involved with the staging of the play, and valuable development time with the company’s actors and director.
